2010 Corvette Nationals 26th 27th June @ Huntingdon - Mon 08 Feb 10 09:12

2010 CCCUK Corvette Nationals
Huntingdon Racecourse, Cambridgeshire
26th and 27th June

A letter from your Chairman:
Quote:Dear members,

As the nights start to draw out it is time to start thinking about this year’s shows and I am pleased to announce that, after lengthy discussions, Dieter has kindly offered to organise this year’s summer Nationals at Huntingdon racecourse where we aim to put on a spectacular show.

Unfortunately this could be the last summer show for the Club. No-one came forward to organise the 2010 show, and Dieter has stepped up to the mark once again. If no one comes forward then we, the Committee, shall not be rebooking the hotel, racecourse etc. after this year’s event. Please bear in mind that these things need to be booked 12 months in advance, or we cannot get the required dates.

It is your Club and it is always left to the same people to organise.I would like to thank past and present Committee members who have always worked so hard behind the scenes to make this Club what it is today: one of the finest car clubs in the country, and one of which we should all be proud to be members.

Kevv, our Membership Secretary, has kindly offered to do the hotel booking and meal arrangements this year, so please contact him early to avoid disappointment. Full details of the menu can be seen in the latest Vette News.

This year our charity is Help for Heroes, a very worthwhile charity to be involved with. We shall be holding an auction on the Sunday in the main arena. If anyone has anything they wish to donate i.e. memorabilia, Corvette parts, bits of race cars or anything that may sell for our injured heroes, please let me know or bring along with you to the summer show. We enjoy our hobby, let us help rebuild their lives.

More on the summer Nationals will be available in the next issue of the magazine and on our website.
Best Regards,
Steve Edwards - Chairman

CCCUK NATIONALS, 26/27 JUNE 2010 HOTEL,
SATURDAY NIGHT FUNCTION & WEEKEND PASSES

It may be only February, but plans for this year’s CCCUK Nationals are well under way and a number of members have already enquired about Hotel rooms. We will have a private bar and function room, a Carvery style three course meal (vegetarian option available) and a DJ. The CCCUK will provide overnight security staff for any cars parked in the hotel car park on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Following negotiations we have managed to keep the room rates fixed at last year’s prices. We have a limited number of rooms at reduced rates for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at The Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon. Please note that, apart from our rooms, the hotel is nearly full. The Committee is very keen to see this as a benefit of CCCUK membership and therefore the following arrangements will apply:
- Reduced rate rooms are for CCCUK members only and must be arranged through the CCCUK hotel organiser who will reserve one room per CCCUK membership number as at 1st June 2010. Any rooms allocated to members who have not renewed their CCCUK membership by that date may be cancelled.
- Guests are more than welcome but if they need rooms, these should be arranged with the hotel direct - the normal tariff will apply and these rooms cannot be taken from the CCCUK allocation.
- The Room Rates for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday are: £70.00 single room per night B&B / £90.00 double room per night B&B. Carvery Tickets for the Saturday night are £29 each, which includes the room hire, staffing, entertainment, etc.
- All rooms are on a first come, first served basis and best endeavours will be used to accommodate any special requests but they cannot be guaranteed.

Weekend Entry Passes to the Racecourse for CCCUK members will be available, which will save you queuing. The cost is £10 per car for the entire weekend (i.e.for a Corvette with two occupants, this works out at only £2.50 per person per day). Requests for passes can be included with your Hotel and/or Carvery booking. Passes will be available on the gate for you to collect on Saturday. Daily gate prices are £7 per car for members & £10 per car for non members.

The CCCUK hotel organiser is Kevv Wright (chevykevv). Please advise Kevv of any requests for rooms, carvery tickets and weekend passes. Please provide your membership number, the names of all parties, address, telephone number, email and any special requirements (e.g. vegetarian options).
CHEQUES PAYABLE TO CCCUK to be sent to Kevv at 6 Oak End, Alconbury, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE28 4EE.
E-mail chevykevv @ ymail.com Tel 07866 183883.

If 2009 was anything to go by, this will be a superb weekend. Why not treat yourself to a night or two in a top class hotel with top class people, but please don’t delay as bookings will be on a first come first served basis.

Kevv - apologies for crashing your original post but this seemed like the best thread to use to publicise the Nats.

New forum design today! - Tue 19 Jan 10 19:56

My day job is building websites for graphic designers, and as a big favour one of them has redesigned this website for us. It's been a long time coming, but I've spent the last few weeks working on the new layout and templates and it's just about ready to launch. This is the first redesign for six years. Thumbs up

Later on this evening the site's appearance will change dramatically to this new design. I really hope you like it. I love it: It's much more modern, professional and stylish. I've taken the opportunity of this redesign to simplify many of the pages to remove clutter and hopefully make important things easier to find. You might have noticed some small changes already such as the reorganisation of the left-hand menus and a reduction in the number of buttons available when adding formatting to your forum posts.

Feedback on the new design is welcome, both good and bad.
