Eight cars damaged by sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum! - Wed 12 Feb 14 18:14

A sinkhole opened up this morning beneath the Skydome at the National Corvette Museum, Bowling Green, Kentucky, swallowing a total of eight cars on display, including two on loan from General Motors.

The sinkhole, which opened up at 5:40 a.m.(est), is reported to be 40 feet in diameter and up to 30 feet deep, and the museum has called in a structural engineer to determine if the sinkhole poses any additional threat to the property. For now, the National Corvette Museum, with the exception of the damaged Skydome, remains open to the public.

Alan Hatfield, RIP - Wed 08 Dec 10 16:52

It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely death of Alan Hatfield, co-founder in 1978 of the CCCUK and ex-member no. 1. Alan passed away yesterday, December 7th after contracting cancer in August. His best friend and co-founder John Gooch looked after him in his final weeks. Alan was only 65 and is survived by his son.

Alan and John created the concept of the CCCUK as a way of entering the club-only classic car show at Alexandra Palace in late 1978. John Sansbury learnt of this and together they officially formed the CCCUK a few months later. Alan was extremely popular and had many friends both inside and outside the club, was always cheerful and positive and an inspiration in the early days of the CCCUK

Alan drove an immaculate red C2 coupe registration USA 8 and is pictured below at the Nationals in Knebworth in 2005.

A fuller tribute will follow in the next edition of the Club magazine.
