Remove center console and clocks on 1979 coupe

Hi all
I am about to start removing my center console and clocks as the red ignition plastic sign has become unstuck and is sliding down.I read an excellent thread a while ago on this subject but can no longer find it! Can anyone out there offer up any words of wisdom on this task please
