Old buddy stopped over today to show his GS. We go back to the street days of '68-'70, where he worked in one jurisdiction, me in another, right on the borderline. Both of us have had Vettes for 45+ years.

He's done a good job modding to his tastes, I really like the exhaust tail setup.

My Vette has been worked on as a slow burn project for a while, with the garage doing bits here and there when they get time. As it was my 21st (*cough*) birthday recently, I checked with them beforehand if it were going to be driveable by my birthday. It was, but its nowhere near finished though. Exterior wise, all done though, and drives ok enough for a quick birthday bash. Anyway, here she is.20190404_113522.jpg20190404_113533.jpg20190404_113546.jpg20190404_113558.jpg

After almost 6 months of slumber, I thought it was about time to fire up the ol' girl. Cranked over and fired right up. This is not a show car, does have some minor blemishes, certainly not a Bloomington Gold specimen. It's just a go to cruise night cruiser in the region, a fun car to drive and hang out.

Checked the fluids, all good, gave it a quick detail, then headed up to get some Top Tier hi-test gas to top off the tank. While out cruising a bit, decided to treat myself to a double fish at a local eatery.

That is gorgeous, great color choice, wheels!!(y)
Thanks Norm :) Though I must confess your "not show car condition" Corvette featured just below mine looks in way better condition than mine. I know mine has a fair few blemishes on the bumpers and paint, but hey, fixing those will delay the project even more and I just want the important stuff done so I can drive it around etc and enjoy V8 noises :D

Captain K, Nice looking car! I love those wheels! As I've suffered perennial balance issues with my aftermarket "stock look" wheels I've wanted to go to TTs for years. Alas, it won't pass budget scrutiny!:)

Norm, I echo others comments about your C3 "not being show car quality"! Oh how many of us wish our cars could be in such a poor condition:):)

So, we on the other hand, enjoyed a weekend in Normandy, on the Cotentin peninsular, with The Corvette Club de France, on their Rallye Printemps (Spring Rally). The usual mix of great company, good food and wine, Corvettes and quiet roads. Some great driving on the road tours on both Saturday and Sunday, and some very interesting visits. Toured the Titanic exhibition and the French nuclear sub at Cherbourg and the fabulous museum at Saint Mere Eglise, covering the D-Day paratroop landings etc. A cruise along the coast past Utah Beach for lunch on Sunday at a restaurant overlooking the entire eastern coast of the Cotentin. 548 miles in the "old '78" with no issues and managed 22mpg on the autoroute, and about 18 mpg for the weekend....

I see a bottle from Griot’s. I use their stuff too. (y)

Of late, been going back and forth with these two detailers, easy to work with, great results, outstanding shine. I buy by the gallon, cheaper, both were around $32 each.

Took a small group to Roots Market in Manheim, PA, in the middle of PA Dutch and Amish country. Place is only open on Tuesdays, and it gets packed. Hundreds of food vendors and a variety of meats, veggies, and baked products to die for, mainly supplied by the Amish. If you like food, you will not go home empty handed here. :)20190409_112642.jpg20190409_123150_HDR.jpg20190409_123332_HDR.jpg20190409_123433.jpg20190409_123504_HDR.jpg20190409_123522_HDR.jpg20190409_123646.jpg20190409_123807_HDR.jpg20190409_133859(1).jpg20190409_133922_HDR.jpg

Is the auto auction still there in Manheim? My friend was a dealer in the late 70s and we used to go there quite often. Amish ladies did the food there and it was always great.

We had one couple bring their SUV knowing full well they wanted some sitting room in their vehicle on the way back. :)
