To get back to Corvettes!...... Laughing

Actually, last Sunday….. we did our first “rallye” with our local car club. A sort of “treasure hunt” type thing really. Really well organised, with lots of attention to detail. A good "tulip" road book, in kms and miles (you had to zero the trip meter) and a few “check-points" en route where someone asked a question. Plus, there were a few questions on the way. Oh and, they checked your mileage so those who did the “actual” mileage obviously didn’t make any errors, so didn’t lose points. A very nice route, a good lunch at a Montoire restaurant, then on to the "cave" of a local vintner who coincidentally has ‘78 Corvette. They awarded trophies down to 10th place, and the winning trophy was the size of the FA Cup! It was hardly surprising that we didn’t figure in the prizes! Maybe next time we’ll have a better idea of what to look out for!

But, it didn’t go without incident. On a section through some woodland we saw a tree apparently swaying in the wind as we approached, only to realise at the last minute that it was falling across the road! We managed to virtually stop as the tree crashed down just inches from the front of the car, but alas, ran over the top branches. They broke and got wedged under the car, and the remaining tree put a nice scratch down the side of the car. We pulled out the tree and I had to crawl around to check that nothing was damaged like brake lines etc, but all seems good. I had a good look the next day and all is OK. The scratch has polished out, well, I can see a slight trace, but no one else would! But, a second later and we’d be looking at a new screen, bonnet, T-Tops…..

But good fun, and we'd defiantly do another. And, some interesting cars among the 58 "runners" - and yes, there were some very wet roads, hence not all shiny!:-

The car is all "prepped" now for our Camargue trip and we leave next week. A long old haul, over 2000 miles by the time we’re back home…….

Met up with some other local American cars last weekend

Then headed over to the Queens Square meet in Bristol

Then with a spare weekend just gone we drove down to Lands End.

And found the best parking space ever.

Image

A tad over 500 miles on a tank and 3 quarters, not bad considering our pace

Very Happy

Yesterday, The Western region - well 15 of us - met for lunch in a small village called Woolhope in Herefordshire.
Great food, great company.
For fans of the television program - The Chase. The Beast, Mark Labett was there too.

Had a chat with him about our cars, he knew nothing about them - so let hope a corvette question comes up in the final chase one day! Rofl

7 members of the North East region attend a Skylive air and car show on Teeside.

Some of the air displays were called off due to the storm showers which spoilt the day a little and we ran for home about 3:30pm when the weather turned nasty.

But overall it was a canny day out. Yes
