For max resale value I would say the original factory colour.

time for an update....

I decided not to paint the car myself.

I sent the car to a local painter. After 4 months he hadn't started any work on the car so I took the car back

I spent 2 months researching alternative painters. The only one I spoke with that made me feel fully confident that they would do a really nice job and actually knew what they were doing with fibreglass, quoted £14K + VAT for the job. Which I cant afford.

In the end, I went with a local guy that came very highly recommended by my MoT garage whom I trust.

The painter said he would have the car done in approximately 6 -8 weeks and it would cost between 5-6K

I delivered the car to him on November 13th 2017 and it's not in primer yet.

I haven't been down these since just before Christmas, at which point he'd achieved the following:
He's repaired the cut rear wings, done some filler work on the rear valence, painted the bonnet with a brushable gelcoat and dome a lot of work on the door/bonnet panel gaps.

I'll try to get down there on Monday and see what progress has been made since then

Hi Nick

I confess it's been a while since I looked at your thread, so you have come on a long, long way from my last view!

Just one though.... You obviously know what you're doing Thumbs up , but when we put the composite spring on our '78, 20 odd years ago, everyone was talking about the danger of having the hot exhausts too close, and how I should wrap them, or put a heat shield on the spring. As a shield of sorts came with the spring, I stuck with that.

I notice that your fab looking hand made pipes run fairly close to the rear spring. Would a heat shield be a good idea?

Hope the body work goes as well as your chassis work clearly has!

Took it for a drive ito Ayrshire and back today in great weather, car went very well but it has developed a small oil leak from the Tremec box.
Please feel free to come and see and have a play with my car if you wish, it may help you decide on your final spec!

I'd not considered this but yes it makes absolutely perfect sense. I'll get some wrap for the pipes
Thumbs up
