C4 Headlight conversions..

My '87's kryptonite is its headlamp doors..

Despite rewiring and new relays (which I weatherproofed with silicon) they still randomly decide not to flip and there's nothing worse looking than a C4 with one lamp up. The motors are fine, it seems to be just crap relays and sockets etc. I'll have a last go at rewiring and relay mounting but I'm thinking on a conversion.

How's these look? Nice or rubbish? The first image are actually Fiat coupe lamps.

Re: C4 Headlight conversions..

So do I, but I have to sort out something more permanent before one of us dies!! Rolling Eyes

These conversions are very expensive, so I'm thinking along the lines of removing the relays and replacing all the wiring and controlling them with a set of switches. There are two relays which raise the doors and a third which reverses the action.

The three relays are supposed to be mounted on the outer edge of the frame horn, but I've never had the specific mounting bracket for them fitted, so my relays exist in waterproof bags with silica bags alongside to absorb moisture. No idea why anyone would want to remove that bracket and I'm struggling to find a replacement. The relay cases have specific mouldings to mount on the bracket.

I dismantled the new relays earlier this year and carefully sealed them with silicon rubber so I'm hoping they are ok inside as without that they do rot quite badly.
