Falcon Heavy Launch

Amazing stuff from SpaceX.

$90m per launch compared to NASA at $1b will have a few NASA committee members shaking.

It would have been good to be in the room when the idea of landing the boosters vertically was discussed.

I saw a shuttle launch in the 90s and you didnít just hear the power but felt it and quite a while after lift-off. Then all the car alarms went off.

Well done Mr Musk.

I love this stuff. Really enjoyed watching the two boosters land together yesterday.

Also wish I made the effort to go and see a Shuttle launch when I lived in the US, and a Saturn V must have been incredible. About 1/3 more thrust than the Shuttle or this Falcon Heavy. Saturn V also had only 5 engines on the first stage. The Haynes manual on this is a great read, explaining the challenges to produce those engines.

Still, the Falcon Heavy was impressive to see the speed it cleared the launch tower. Can't find out how much payload it was carrying though.

Seeing a shuttle launch was down to luck. I travelled twice and each time the launch was aborted with just minutes to go. Third time we were just lucky.

As we're all supposed to be petrolheads on here, do we all agree that outer space is probably the best place for an electric car? Laughing

Having a lot of bhp is all very well, but on these forums it's torque that counts

At least there are no clouds to obscure the cells.

The innovation will sell a good few more Tesla, and now they have their own race season.
