My C5 passed it's French MOT ('controle technique') today. Yippee, two years until the next one Laughing

Re: What did you do with your Vette today?

I decided my new stainless steel exhaust headers were just a little too loud in the interior of my C5. Also I could feel heat coming into the foot wells. Fine in the recent cold weather but I imagine not so good in the summer.

There was also a resonance at low rpms that made the system even louder.

So I investigated.

I found that the headers themselves were not to blame. It was down to the sections connecting the header collectors to my existing exhaust system. This section also contains the new cat. converters.

Tapping these sections produced a ring like a bell. They are also running in the area alongside the foot wells.

So I decided to header wrap these two short pipe sections from the headers to the stock exhaust only.

The result is a big drop in the interior noise. No sign of the resonance. No sign of the heat getting into the foot wells.

Bloody perfect actually. Yes

Job done! Thumbs up

Did something good: added the Ď17/18 CCCUK membership decal on the car! Happy to be a part of the community.

Small question, I am a little worried on the moisture content in the garage in combination with hardly any airflow. I am aware of the carcoon product, however was wondering if I just connect a ventilator in the garage and keep it running 24/7 it should be more or less the same? Any ideas?

Re: What did you do with your Vette today?

Just finished the Vats system on my 35th anniversary Corvette. Which is a bit of a weak point on the C4 generation. Iíve finished her completely back to stock, as I had the original system repaired. So no bypass needed. She started up straight away and I'm going to take her out this afternoon for a drive.
