1st Scottish American Car Show Message Icon

Knockhill Race Circuit are putting on their first Scottish American Car show on Sunday 24 June. This is being co-ordinated through a Facebook page which I know some of you donít use, so thought you would like to know about it via this forum.

The Facebook page can be reached at https://www.facebook.com/events/865725186932555/. If you want to go but donít use Facebook, let me know and I will ensure you are updated.

At the moment the method of registration is sketchy but I do know that they are putting up 15 trophies and entry is £7.

£7 for the 'privilege' of exhibiting a car and they also charge the public £15 a head to take a look? Some of us are not comfortable with that especially as there doesn't seem to be any charity involved to benefit from this.

Not so much me as I drive a thrifty 32mpg C4, but for some of the guys its a £150 fuel bill there and back from the west..

I appreciate Knockhill has its overheads, but that's not our problem.. Scratchchin

If it was an invite to race up the course I would be interested. But not for a static show there.

Perhaps 'collectively' some of the car clubs who will be supporting the event need to 'present a case' to the organisers on the lines of "we are the reason for people coming to your event - normally entry for car clubs would be FOC, or significantly discounted"

That's why in my invite to the indoor show at Edinburgh I suggest interested parties should give me their details. because people I know will get us in no fee for car or stand. But we have to be careful because some clubs are paying a lot to have a stand there or even just enter a car.

Re: 1st Scottish American Car Show

Problem with static shows is that after an hour and a burger, you've seen it all and just want to clear off for a drive. 6hours is a long time to swan about in your black hoodie with your hands in your pockets!! Sleep

Years ago, I was at a show at Knockhill and was placed next to some tit in a hatch with a massive audio system playing that awful trebly crap til our ears were bleeding (nowhere to escape to at Knockhill). Sad

I moved the car out of its place about lunchtime and was immediately jumped on by security staff saying I couldn't leave til 4pm. F*ck that I said, "I'm off, try and stop me!" Eventually I made it to the gate and they opened it which started a small exodus behind me.. Very Happy

Best part of the day was leaving and tripping home via the Trossachs (..wouldn't be caught dead in a pair these days though! Laughing

I almost cried when I got caught in the Trossachs.
