Happy 40th Birthday

Our1978 celebrated its 40th Birthday today (9th May).

So, we took it to lunch. Those of you who are "Le Mans Travellers" may recognise the venue in La Chartre sur Le Loir - we had a Kir Royale to celebrate, but the car was driving, so abstained! Then a short drive to a few local villages.

A few photos from the day:

Having a lot of bhp is all very well, but on these forums it's torque that counts

Total sweetageness!! Cool

Are your roads always so smooth and empty? Scratchchin

I live 15miles from the nearest decent 'A' road and I have to drive through mud, cowsh*t, potholes and avoid large tractors and logging HGV's to get anywhere! Rolling Eyes

It was chaos outside the Hotel de France Very Happy - I had to wait for two cars to come up the side road so I could reverse outside the hotel, against the flow of the one way system
Very Happy But yes, I'm afraid that's the norm, we knew we'd be able to pretty much put the car where we liked for photos in various villages nearby. These are just a few of photos we took.

We had Brett & Kerensa staying over the weekend and did a bit of cycling. On the second day's ride we saw two cars along the "main road" in the first few minutes. Brett said it was already twice as busy as the day before's 20 km ride!

Thanks Bill! It didn't scrub up too badly, considering the grim weather we'd had the week before down at Magny Cours... Sad

Many happy returns to your car! It's wearing very well and doesn't look like a forty year old (much like your good self old chap)! Laughing
