Jacking whole car onto axle stands

What is the best procedure to get the car onto four axle stands? Where must each axle stand go front and rear? Iíve got a convertible so does presence of x brace change anything? Also can I open the bonnet after Iíve got it on axle stands?

Re: Jacking whole car onto axle stands

I'm not familiar with the C4 chassis but in general I use chassis or subframe points to support with axle stands. Jack up one end or side at a time. In stages depending how high you want it.

Because my C5 is so low I have to jack up one side at a time and put blocks under the wheels. Then I can get the jack under the front to lift it in the centre of the subframe high enough to get it in stands. Then I do the same at the rear.

Once supported evenly on the frame you can indeed open doors and bonnet.

Google C4 jacking points, plenty info and pics there.

What I do on the C4, to make things safer, I use concrete blocks with timber on top and use that to support the car from the front crossmember in between the wishbones and axle stands at the rear.
