Oil pressure readings

Today I noticed whilst sitting in a jam that whilst idling around 7/800 rpm the oil pressure was dipping into the mid to high teens and hovering around 20psi. Accelerating made it go back into 30s and 40s easily. Traffic was so bad today I couldnít try a cruise at 60/70mph.

Not sure if itís just the first time Iíve noticed idle speed oil pressure but is high teens/20s good normal or bad? What should I be looking for. Itís had an oil change with Mobil 1 5w/30 and new filter just last may then it wasnít used at all until now.

Does the owners manual say, "Fill with Mobil 1 5w-30"?

If not.......

Re: Oil pressure readings

You could try 0W-40 at the next oil change and see if it makes any difference to your oil pressure. My understanding is the very thin oils are really just to squeeze out the last teeny bit of economy and emissions.

There's a thread on the subject here,

Re: Oil pressure readings

Thanks. Will think about that for next oil change. Interesting article.
