Re: C2 fibreglassing and stuff

Evening Tony, good idea but I've had the nuts of the negative comments due to lack of paint/project cars so I don't allow people in the garage! Wife doesn't even know what's in there.

Blasters use all sorts, soda, plastic beads even shells. I've done one door on the outside but I want the metal door frames blasted as well then Henry Hoover can taste some sand and soda.

Before I carry on is there anyone else out there at this stage or about to embark on a repaint?

The car is wet so it's easier to see the original seams and panels. If it were a truck at this stage I guess I could just clear coat it and ask 25k for it?

Re: C2 fibreglassing and stuff

Managed to get a few hours in this afternoon. Both rear fenders now stripped and ready for replacement flares. Luckily I have molds for the rear arches so it won't take long. I took Tony's advice and scrapped the paint off the door rather than get it blasted. The outer door skin took approx 40 minutes due to the fact that it only had one layer of original paint. Hooray as the rear fenders had at least four layers of filler, paint and gel coat. As always it's taking far more time than I had envisaged but it is addictive and for me the sharp contours make it all worthwhile.

I nipped home for a long lunch break and jetsprayed the door off. I found rivets I had never seen before. On schedule for the big repaint.

Spent the afternoon in the rain cleaning these wheels that haven't been cleaned in years, then removed the super old Dunlops and replaced with BFG gold lines.

These narrow tyres can be a complete pig to get a seal for inflation, I find the best way is to use a ratchet strap to tighten the circumference which in turn splays out the bead.
