C7 Stingray - tyres

Is anybody using different tyres on a C7 Stingray instead of original equipment Michelin run-flats?

If so, how are they working out?

Re: C7 Stingray - tyres

I decided to sans the Michelin's this time on my Z06. I've replaced 10 tires with 36,000 miles on the clock in varying degrees of wear. Of course with three times at VIR with spirited hot lap running, it took its toll on the tires. They are excellent tires for racing for which the car is designed.

Did that back on my '10 GS, got rid of the RF Goodyears, replaced with N-RF Nitto Invo's, big improvement.

No way I am disparaging the Michilen's, my wife's SRX had them and got 60,000 miles + before being replaced.

Since I don't track anymore, I want a beefier tread tire, and no run flats, run flats are too noisy and too stiff. I wanted all seasons of basically any good brand, but no one is selling the size for the rear tires on the back of C7 Z's and GS's.

Found a set of Pirelli's that I liked and I had to step down one size on the rear tires (335 to 325, 3/10's of an inch smaller) to get non-run flats, but still a summer tire, all seasons not available........yet. Cost for the set, $1350.

Changing from RF to N-RF, yes lost a little peace of mind, but I have a plug and mini-compressor kit I keep in the rear cubby hole, and if that doesn't work, Platinum AAA will take care of it.

I am really happy with those, lost the tire road noise (vroo-vroo-vroo-vroo), totally quiet, can't hear the tires at all, and just about a 180 in ride, a much smoother ride. When I'm out and about and time to come home, I actually don't want to pull in the garage, I want to keep on going. Very Happy

Re: C7 Stingray - tyres

This as all good to hear!

On my C5 I switched from runflats to conventional Michelin Pilot Sports and was very pleased with the outcome. If similar ride and handling benefits can be achieved on C7 that will be a great result.
