Tips

Hi Guys
This thread is aimed at all you regular drivers of C3s. I sat in my 1980 C3 today for the first time. I was amazed at how much car you canít see.
I amgine pulling out onto a main road has its issues. Any tips? I have been driving for over 40 years, and I have never seen such a nose. Canít wait!!!

Hi Derek

Best advice I can give is to just drive it, get some 'around town' miles under your belt and you will soon become "as one' with the machine.

Enjoy!

Re: Tips

my main tip is, practice parking the front end close to things, in my first few months of ownership I dinged the pointy front end many times! Now owning a C4, it has it's own problems, can be a pig to reverse park, back end really hard to judge Yes

Re: Tips

The seats in the 80 are such that the further back you sit in the seat the less reclined your posture - so sit back.

If you are not 6ft tall get a 2inch lift via a hard sponge to put on the seat until you are more at ease with where the nose ends.

Amazing I have just had the seats re-trimmed with new standard foam sponges and it has caused the problem, that my eye line has now moved up and the interior mirror is now blocking the vista. (Vista: they used to make a curry in a box).

Most important Tip is do not drive once you have had a tipple.

Wait till you grow up and are 6ft 3in, then install bucket seats with harnesses in your C3. .
Things to avoid
Turning left on a slip road at a major road junction.
Trying to open the window on the passenger side, with Manuel windows.
Going into a multi story car park with automated barriers. Rofl

My corvette will pass anything on the road, except a gas station.

I'll add to the things to avoid - reversing into a small council rental garage. The car is only millimetres smaller than the opening and you "MIGHT" (*cough*) end up reversing into the garage and doing lots of damage to your car...... those blimmin wingmirrors don't extend out enough to properly see the rear wheel arch bulges.

With extended width my issue is worse, but some one is going to have a go and extend the originals for me, retaining the Mirror Head and Mounting Block.

Not started yet, but if successful I will post the details in the Mag.
