Door removal on 79 coupe


Hi All
I am thinking of removing the bonnet (looks easy)even for me! and doors to ease the job of the paint shop but also I am hoping they will paint the doors and bonnet over the Autumn,leaving the rest of the car over the winter period.Now if they agree to my plan!my question is how difficult are the doors to remove and what would your thoughts be on refitting doors after the repaint ie actually hanging them so they dont foul anything and mark the fresh paint.Or should I just leave them to do everything
Any thoughts would be welcome

Easy enough.
Remove vinyl door card. Open door and support metal door frame with trolley jack and 4x2. The reason for support is working on your own a fully loaded C3 door is heavy.
Loosen all 9/16 bolts hinge bolts at the front of door , when ready remove the bolts then pull door out. If you have electric windows you will have to disconnect wiring first.
I presume you are stripping the paint off before repaint?

Yes I was hoping it would be as straight forward as you say then each door can be stripped and repainted and refitting is a reverse procedure,I have heard re hanging the door could be a problem with snagging fresh paint etc when closing the door !!
