2017 Tapas and Rioja Tour

I took the gearbox out of my '76 on New Year's Eve last year, as the first stage of a full engine and gearbox upgrade planned for Spring 2018. Life, work, new house and running the business all kind of got in the way, and I've made no further progress since then. Sigh...

I was trying to spin up some motivation to get back in the garage and get things moving again now things have calmed down a bit, and I started re-reading this blog I wrote during our September touring holiday last year... ...and then I realised I don't think I ever shared it with you folks - I know you all like a good story.

It was an epic fortnight - with ups and downs - and I wouldn't change a thing. Hopefully, the car will be ready to head to Portugal in 2019 for a similar adventure...

Hope you enjoy it. That car even looks good on the back of a breakdown lorry... Thumbs up

Regards,
FJ

Re: 2017 Tapas and Rioja Tour

I remeber you doing the trip, but you're right, I don't think we have seen the "blog" (sorry, I hate that term Very Happy )

But what a great little story! And, the video was fab. The starter issue brings back memories of some of our early trips to Europe back in the late 90s - pushing the car off petrol forecourts to allow it to cool down enough to re-start - often in the rain! Such fun! But also good to see San Sebastian again.....

Now we're over here, we don't have the added "pleasure" of the channel crossing, so are able to head out through France fairly regularly and its rather frightening how quickly we can rack-up 1000 miles plus on a Corvette Club France trip!

But, I have to say your spares list has me worried! Only recently did I pop a set of spare belts in the spare wheel and apart from some basic tools and a small socket set, the spares are pretty much limited to fuses, some wire, and a small can of WD40! Maybe we are too optimistic and overconfident in our breakdown cover! Very Happy

Good luck with the engine and box and I'll look forward to reading about the Portugal trip!
