Replacing Fuel Filter

Today i have changed my fuel filter........... on 99 base hardtop................
replaced with ac delco part, fired up straight away no problem, run great, drove great, no leaks HOWEVER now there is a loud noise which sounds like a vaccum cleaner, which i think is coming from the filter itself, this is the first time as far as my records go it has been changed, so nearly 20 years and 57k , advice so far has been ........
trapped air in system ( have used schrader valve in l/h fuel rail to try and bleed )
not enough fuel in tank ( just over quarter full}
Injector cleaner reqd

Has anybody come across this problem, or perhaps i should put my old filter back on
Surprised Surprised Surprised

Re: Replacing Fuel Filter

Sorry to hear about your problem. I changed mine on my 02 a while ago without any issues but at the time I did think the fittings were a bit basic for something so important. All I can suggest is that you take the connections apart and refit and see if that clears the problem. At the time I bought a tool from ebay which enabled the connectors to be 'opened' during the disconnection/reconnection procedure. I've read on other forums that you can use pen tops and the likes to carry out the procedure but for the price of the part it's a no brainer. Hope this helps.

Does sound like air being drawn in maybe take off and start again

Yes. It would make that sort of noise if it was not sealed correctly.

You had a chance to look at it over the weekend?
