I use an 'Optimate 4' intelligent charger hooked up all the time as I only use the car on a very limited mileage policy and also lay it up over the winter months to avoid the dreaded salt which plays havoc with the polished alloys. My nephew recommended using one of these as he is a keen biker in the summer months but stores his bikes through the winter. The Optimate will recover a flat battery at a variable charge rate of 0.2 - 0.8 A which is lower than a regular charger but better for the battery. I paid £45 for it.
