2014 Cruise in to the Nationals from South Mimms

For anybody who wants to cruise in to the Nat's from the M25 South Mimms service area on Sunday I'll be there from around 9am so we can promptly leave for Wood Green at 9.25am. Driving

Scratchchin At the moment I'm still undecided on the route so I'm asking for some advice from all those with local knowledge! For the same amount of time Google tells us we can either go;

A1(m) to J9 - A505 - A1198... Looks nice and scenic but with more single carriageway to encounter plonkers

Or

A1(m) to St Neotts - A428 - A1198...More of the A1 and plenty of dual carriageway to overtake said plonkers but I believe there's roadworks at Biggleswade?

Thoughts please. Very Happy

A1 has new 60mph average speed scammerers, between St Neots and Buckden roundabout.

Sciencebird says it's the Black Cat you want to avoid, so recommends the A505/A1198.

It's pretty straight. I know we're all responsible law abiding drivers, there are at least three cameras on the 505 to watch out for.

Be aware when coming to the venue from this side you are turning right across the traffic, alternatively if you are okay with another mile passing the venue and coming back on yourself round the roundabout is a safer option. We'll have signing out from both directions. There is a Shell Station on that roundabout too for those that find their Corvette is not the last word in frugality.

Bumping as it seems appropriate! (Please no "bumping" on the cruise though...)

Re: 2014 Cruise in to the Nationals from South Mimms

Surrey Region had their monthly meet last night and felt leaving South Mimms for 9:25 was too early for their liking so will be leaving Cobham Services on the M25 at 9:30 for a clockwise cruise around the M25 to South Mimms before taking the A1, A505, A1198 route. Any local regions wanting to join us would be more than welcome.

Well Simon that has messed it up then, that will be the death of the annual cruise I think.

Okay, so we've got two cruises this year, at two different times, works better for us on the gate, and gives people the choice of an earlier or later arrival.

If it ends up too thin for either/both then we'll rethink next year and put a more formal single time in for it.
