Peter Max collection sold

Looks like Peter Max's Corvettes from 1953 till 1989 are getting a new home. He sold them finally after years of neglecting: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/24/peter-max-corvette-collec...

Good news and not before time!

This story includes a couple of my pet hates – cars being offered in competitions to complete no-nothings who don’t care what they’ve won, and collections of cars stashed away in someone’s storage space. If I’m honest, I have a problem even with huge collections of cars that are publicly displayed, unless they are actually taken out and used regularly.

Much as it would be good to see them all sold together, if that happens no doubt they’d just end up in another “museum” setting, wasting away indoors instead of out having fun!

We can only hope they get a better home after all these years. It's too bad that people put them away and don't drive them or even take them on a regular drive.

I've got a problem with museums, they're just sitting there. Instead driving around and enjoyed by car lovers.

Whilst were on pet hates, two of mine are people who won't use a car to keep the mileage low, and car shows where you see judges in white coats pointing at a speck of dust on a valve cap or dirt in the tyre tread.

I purchased a 66 earlier this year which had been kept as a show car and done 700 miles in 5 years, I have done over 3000 miles in her in 6 months, the pleasure I get is from sharing the car with others and the most comments I get is wow rarely get to see these cars being driven.

No, I found it too exhausting and that was just reading the score sheet silly

I like a really clean car, but in my mind (a strange and bewildering place) the purpose of a clean car is to take it out and get it dirty again - so it needs cleaning..... A sort of automotive groundhog day and the only people in white coats are the ones coming to take me away.......................
