Re: What did you do with your Vette today?

We have always used the Corvette all year round, although never intentionally in the wet – a strategy that more often than not fails when we’re on a pre-arranged outing!

Our local car club meets each month in a different village in La Sarthe, and that’s a good excuse for a run out. But having missed it this month we did manage a 65 mile run down to Tours and back, mainly to ensure the newly fitted U/J didn’t fall off! Beautiful day, no traffic of course, but we only clicked off one photo that included anything of the car!

Been in the high teens temps-wise recently, but when it's cold there's little or no salt used here, so it’s generally easier to get out on nice winter days. But even in the UK I think we always managed a run out at least once a month, about 60 – 100 miles, to get everything nicely warmed through….

Great pic Stephen, the Vette definitely has a great "down the bonnet" view - don't think I've seen any better.

We came back today in horrible wet weather - still found it a very pleasant journey, and I'd say the "electronics" of traction control (I'm quite impressed by the system on the C4 as it's one of the early ones) and cruise control, and the comfort really make it an unfatiguing way to cover the miles.

Car needs a clean now though - nearly as much as Kevv's!

Changed the oil yesterday as we had showers off and on all day ,first time i have changed the oil in 7 months and 7000 miles and the oil was almost as clean as it went in ,amazing ...
Today was the first dry road day I've had off work since the MOT a month ago so i washed the car did a nice 100 mile trip along the coast road and over the hills ,washed it again (am i the only one who does that ) and put her away .
How many more days are we going to get before the dreaded salt goes down Sad

Just back from a weekend trip away to Kilchoan in the West highlands. Actually the most westerly point on the british mainland. Car was great come rain or sun of course. Truly an accomplished touring car.

Re: What did you do with your Vette today?

I was strongly tempted to go out for a drive yesterday but was rather hung over.....

I have just been doing little "improving" on the car in the garage over the last few weeks. Fitted clear lenses to the front, sides and rear of the car to get rid of all the amber lens bits and little round side lights a Euro spec car normally has.

Fitted a cover over the battery compartment and a plug so I can easily put the car on the trickle charger without removing the battery cover.

Next job will be painting the fuel rail and radiator top covers body colour.

I will SORN the car next weekend. But think I will take it out one last time for this year just to "test" my new white side lights. Very Happy

Quite normal..

I get the same results after my usual 15k mile or 2 year oil change on my '87. The oil is then used by my mate for his MGB or my neighbour in his 1950 Morris Oxford..

That's the benefit of synthetic, lasts longer so fewer changes means reduced costs! Thumbs up

Yes fully synthetic should last at least two years if you don't do a high mileage. I changed my oil last winter and have only done a couple of thousand miles so will wait until the winter after this before that gets changed.

I was going to change my transmission and diff oil this winter but as I am still very short of 50K miles I might wait until the next winter for that too. I will have to see how the money goes. Been an expensive year this one and they next will be no cheaper with my USA road trip planned.

Re: What did you do with your Vette today?

I was £90 for two bottles of Mobil 1 diff oil, two bottles of GM additive (recommended by them what know apparently) and a big syringe to sook out all the old oil.

There's probably a less expensive way of achieving this.

Road trip in a new Challenger then eh?
