A Halfords card could be a nice perk for club members if such a thing could ever be organised.

I just went into Halfords and asked for a trade card for the "South Ayrshire Bio-engineering Fleet" (no such thing as we use our own cars) and they gave me one! It can be used for any service items. I get about 10 off my Mobil 1, Octavia oil filter at around 5.99 for 2.99 etc etc..

When I first read Steve's post some time ago I briefly looked into it then dismissed it. However a little while ago I needed something that my local Halfords had, went online and registered. I was surprised to find the discounts published (once you're logged in) so you can see how good a deal it is, or not. Anyway I picked up the card at the store and have since bought several items at very decent discounts. I didn't have to invent anything, just my name, address, email etc and profession.
Thanks Steve Thumbs up

I looked into a trade card many years ago, as they claimed to offer them for anyone employed in the motor industry, of which I am. Problem was the branch said I needed to produce a payslip from an employer that they would recognise, and I was technically self-employed. They would have accepted a bunch of receipts for Halfords purchases, as I guess this may be the way a self-employed technician would qualify.

Anyway fast forward 7yrs or so, and the company I work for has expanded its staff discounts, so they now offer the trade card for contractors and permanent staff. Still had to present my access card as proof though.
