Yes - it's driving me up the wall!! - that said, I'm now much more knowledgeable about container shipping given the amount of time I spend on websites tracking it...

L88 wrote (View Post): Between 3 or 4 of us we have most of the parts to go standard or L88 tribute but as you're no doubt aware original parts are expensive. For instance radio delete panel repro @ 80

have you got one? a cast repro?

L88 wrote (View Post): It looks like you have bought 69 on wheels and 70 on seats,

yeh - the 8' wheels were a lesser of two evils; in that the vendor agreed to supply them FOC in lieu of the centrelines that were on the car when i bought it... he didnt have any original 68 wheels... but i figured 8' rallye's where better than none!

The seats were VERY irritating though..... Agreed on a handshake when i bought the car that he'd supply 68 frames to get new foam and covers at my cost... two weeks down the line (when i'm back in the UK) - i'm told 'sorry, don't have any 68 seats - you'll have to have these'

Had I researched the vendor first, I would have known better as there is a thread on the corvette forum suggesting he does that sort of thing... but I was on hols and didnt have time to shop around!! you live and learn....

I would like to get hold of some 68 seats - but in the same breath, would like to get rid of the ones that are in it atm.... new foam, covering and all!

L88 wrote (View Post): we have correct 7" wheels and correct 68 head rest seats , J56 parts and twin pin pads calipers brackets etc, correct headlight assemblies and wiper assemblies L88 intakes etc etc. I can take moulds for the wheelarches if you want them back to standard.

I picked up headlight assemblies and the wiper door assembly when i bought it... but might be interested in some of the other bits... please drop me a PM with some prices? - on the wheel arches - are they flared? - i genuinely didnt notice!

also; if anyone has got an original style big block hood (original or repro?) - please do drop me a note! - I still have not decided which way to go!

L88 wrote (View Post): If your bonnet is an original L88 item and not a repro it will take a phone call to find a buyer.

The underside is rough; which suggests to me that it's handlaid fibreglass and is therefore not genuine! - if i decide to keep it; I plan to fill/refinish the underside to tart it up a bit..

thanks!

You were too early to take it home as it stayed on to win Best Classic American. Respect.

Presumably that's J.M's black '66 coupe, Mick......he deserves the award, having put in all that effort!

The C3's, IMO, the best iconic look for a Vette, no one's going to mistake it for anything else. Looks like you have a nice base to work with. Best of luck with your endeavor, it's going to be a looker. Thumbs up

Hello and good to see another 1968 owner. Smile Like you, I didn't know of the 1968 parts only issue until I got mine and I started to shop for parts for it. Hey hum. Mine is only a mere 327/300hp one though (but its all numbers matching and standard inside etc. It does have a big block hood on it though that the previous owner put on it.

Nice.. What colour is yours? Do you have any pictures?

Given all that originality, How attached are you to your big block hood? 😀
