C2 fibreglassing and stuff

This morning I took my tea into the garage and thought I'd make a mold for the two C2 hoods that once had power adders bulging out the top. All basic stuff but hugely smelly. Garage door open I polished bonnet, masked up the area to be glassed, cut some layers of fibreglass then applied a super thick coat of polish to enable mold to snap free of bonnet. This area took about 1.5 litres of resin and a dash of hardener.
Two inch brush and away we go, ten minutes later I'm left with this, no air bubbles lots of stink. After lunch we shall see if the polish did its job.

Thanks Tony but maybe best if you retract your praise. As can be seen in the pic below the mold came out OK which is more than can be said of the paint on the hood. I guess I won't be using that polish again or maybe it's past its sell by date. Fresh polish for that 66 BB hood I have my eye on !

Re: C2 fibreglassing

Not a massive problem is it, I take it the bonnet paintwork wasn't its final finish, ant the paint on the mold will sand off, so it's a result Frank.
Your have to do one of that BB hood if you get it just in case

You're right Tony, the white bonnet will be stripped but is staying on the 63 I'm selling, the paint stuck to the mold just peeled off. It was just a bit annoying that job wasn't perfect. Could of been worse as it was a real bitch to seperate from the hood. Bac to the garage.

Used the mold on a hood today, all went well just needs to be ground out on the top side with the power file and resin in some fibreglass tape to stop the cracks then filler both sides . Not sure if pics will show it but in the flesh it looks ok.

Re: C2 fibreglassing

Yes Tony thin on top but a thicker underneath to hide the matting. On to the next bonnet...
