Warning, contains an "ad" that hopefully will not be deleted? Smile

No certainly not, would have to be a Big Block and all to an exceptionally high standard on top and below - this car is not.

1965 car with a 1967 BB hood, wrong CC engine therefore not numbers matching, side exhausts from Argos. The dealer is obviously not a ' Not for profit organisation '.
Always good to see prices on the rise but this is just a Bitza car with a drop of paint. There's better cars for half that money.

Re: Is this a 90k car?

This is a far wider 'problem' (as I see it) where arguably already over-escalated prices being asked for C2's are seemingly being further escalated by 'chancers' offering sub standard cars for grossly inflated prices. I believe we are also seeing it with some mid-years C3's too where again some extremely 'robust' prices are being asked for late vehicles. Fine, its great to have Corvettes recognised as historically being undervalued but we have a situation now where C2 owners will stop using their vehicles due to the perceived value and (as is already happening) the market for our cars will stagnate - there are signs this is starting to happen already Yes

Re: Is this a 90k car?

This question of a market stagnating, sure in a rising market you have chancers with a high asking price without a car to match, and an overpriced car is going to hang around as long as there is supply around.

However what is happening as Vette prices are on the up is that of creating a market for a different clientèle, for those with more spending power that want something a little different, hence the upsurge in resto-mods.

Previously for a Vette to have a high value; that value would have to be synonymous with the likes of originality, matching numbers, NCRS / Bloomington Gold various accreditations etc, but now in general, a well done resto-mod can fetch as much as a Vette with pristine originality (offering vintage style and nostalgia but with a more up to date driver experience) for those that can afford it.

The post by Chevrolet for the C2 LS Coupe now for sale at £125k and yes (if it goes and looks as good as one would expect from the images / spec) it should fetch £110k easily.

If in any way the last paragraph referring to the C2 LS Rest-Mod is seen as supporting / enhanced subliminal advertising giving a boost to Chevrolet's advertising link for the said C2 LS Resto-Mod please look away.

Ps Chevrolet, I want 50% of your commission.

Re: Is this a 90k car?

C2s have long been "keenly priced", mainly as a result of the influence of NCRS and the near-obsession it has with those cars. But, compared with other acknowledged classics of the same era, they are not expensive. In fact, all corvettes suffer from the "mass--produced, blue-collar" tag, not to mention Europe's dismissal of anything American and sycophantic fawning over anything Italian!

Personally, I'm all in favour of C3 prices rising, I don't have a great deal of time for buyers looking for a "nice 5k car". For 27 years I've been championing the Corvette as a true classic, instead of a "wide boy motor".... I won't reiterate what I've said about the price rise of cars around the Corvette - Mustangs, Chevelles etc....

As for the Mid-Year in question.... no doubt it'll be sold at a price close to the asking, and the owner will be one of those who is adamant that his car is correct, cos "he's done all the research"

Only $320k

So how does the £90k fare now or are they both out of perspective?

Re: Is this a 90k car?

Obviously, a car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Could have picked this up in Sepember, at Brooklands Historics auctions, for £56k. Bidding on the day stalled at £40k something (unsold), so looks like a deal was done afterwards.
