I would like to do this, see if the 3.15 diff makes a difference or not. There is also shakespear raceway that's central.

I believe Shaky will be on its last year in 2018. We chose Bedford for the Nationals as this in fact is central located when related to the spread of members throughout the UK which (as with most clubs) has most members further South. Santa Pod is only a few miles away from Bedford. Reality is that no matter where we hold an event it won't be convenient for someone Yes

Re: Drag Race your Corvette

If you do want to run as a "class" at the Mopar Nats at the end of July I can ask their Committee if you want?

I will be running there that weekend anyway most likely. Keen to try out the new surface as it should be faster.

Would need at least a half dozen entrants in the class though.

Another way is to just stick together in the fire-up lanes. The marshals at the front will pair you up no problem when asked.

For fun you shouldn't run a "knock-out" competition. Just compare best timing tickets from the weekend to get a winning order. Or even better judge it on average reaction times. Fastest average reaction wins. That way it does not matter how powerful your car is.

Great offer - I'm waiting to have further discussions - could be an interesting (or additional) option if 'talks don't work out in our favour - thanks for the offer Thumbs up

I agree that the Mopars could be good and also I wouldn't rule out the RWYB events. I usually manage to get 7 runs a day in, you just need to pay 10 admission (per car) be signed in pay 25 and be in the pairing lanes by 9 am ready to go! Everyone gets a timing slip and you are racing against your own times so we could bring these together on a makeshift leader board, plus we could give an ET (elapsed time) target so it doesn't matter who is fastest as the person who gets closest to their ET without going quicker (breaking out) wins!

Read the Vette news. Yes - could be good to uncork my headers. Can't commit 100% but yes, less cars means more runs on a midweek day....weather dependent as ever with drag racing.

Re: Drag Race your Corvette

Just read Dave's (Roppa) post. The Mopars are at the weekend but since they have let the Promods into this event the run what you brung time has really been squeezed up. We've had a good weather record until recently there until 3 years ago - when friday and sunday were a washout. Last year lots were put off and it was quiet with lots of track time. This year mixed with water coming through the track on sunday after rain saturday night and i don't think they got it open until lunch time. You can be in the fire up lane for a long time and us RWYB guys are always bumped back.....

I see we have had 11 votes in the poll so far - 8 for - 3 not interested. I hope we get a few more than just 11 members respond out of 950 odd on the books - barely 1% of us!
