Site issues?

Anyone having any problems accessing here? Earlier today it was very slow though that now seems OK. However, I wanted to check if I'd asked something already before posting up but when I click on "your own posts" the site drops out!

Re: Site issues?

I think that most are getting this message some of the time - some form of 'glitch' on the system no doubt which will hopefully be fully addressed in the new year Yes

Hi,
Thanks for raising this issue - I'm aware of it. Smile

There's a post running that discussed this problem that has since transmogrified into a discussion about the CCCUK's online presence generally and has been moved into the members-only forum. I've replied to that thread just now with an update on the server problem, but since this thread is the most recent one that's visible to regular users and not just members of the CCCUK I'll post an update here too.

I've liaised with the hosting company today to tweak the server settings and my fingers are crossed that this may help the problem. If anybody from now on sees the "2006 MySQL server has gone away" message could they please let me know in this chat?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben -

Hope you're OK - finished that car yet? Smile

Answer to the opposite question to the one that you asked - but the website issue has gone away for me now.

Good work, and thanks!

Regards,
FJ

Re: Site issues?

Without wanting to prolong this subject, can I just say a huge thanks and well done to Jonny and, of course Ben. Ben's reply on the related (now locked) thread is, as always, spot on in every aspect! For my part I'm sorry Ben's time is now spread between work, home and family that we see little of him and his thoughts and advice on the forum, both regarding Corvettes and the site itself.

Thanks Stephen. You're too kind!
I didn't realise the other thread had been locked so thanks for the heads-up.

Well done Ben.

For the medium term can I suggest the Committee looks to see what other car clubs are doing. There are hundreds out there and I see no need to re-invent the wheel and build an expensive one-off website just for CCCUK.

The error message sums it up (SQL Error : 2006 MySQL) last time I looked we were in 2018. We can't expect Ben to keep the old steam engine working too much longer.

Alan
