Car Cover

I am looking to buy a cover for my 1979.

The car is always garaged and at the moment I keep a dust sheet over it but now want something that is fitted and covers the car completely.

I'm not looking to spend a lot as it is really for indoor use but I want something of a reasonable quality that will not scratch the paintwork and is breathable to prevent any possible condensation build up.

What are people's advice and recommendations?

Re: Car Cover

Roy - I bought a fitted Wolfe cover from Ecklers (I think) years ago. Its multi layer, breathable supposedly and thick enough to withstand the odd thing that might get dropped on it. Supposed to be suitable for exterior use too but never used it for that.

Re: Car Cover

look at Ecklers or mid america - there are a load of choices - I have a wolf 3 layer indoor/outdoor cover on my 80 has lasted over 10 years now
I like the thicker cover in garage as I am always putting stuff on the vette while messing around in there

Consider a cover with door access so you dont have to take cover off to get in the car.

I can bring a cover over in my next shipment if you like rule of thumb at the mo is $100 in USA is £130 landed uk MAX

Re: Car Cover

Thanks for the tips Keith, I hadn't thought about the possibility of getting in the car while it's got the cover on...........

Re: Car Cover

I bought this cover for our '78 last year,

Image

From this company in Germany: https://www.kfz-schutzdecken.de/index.php?k=9218&lang=en...

They do various colours and the indoor cover is super soft inside and a lovely satin surface outside. The cover comes with a neat bag to keep it in when not in use. It is "fitted" , but does not have mirror pockets. It is however a generous fit so doesn't need them! Comes right to the ground and look pretty good on the car.

Delivery was really quick (a few days I think!) and of course, no nasty import taxes!

We also now have a similar cover on our "metal" car, same type, same colour. Also fitted. Extremely happy with both.

Re: Car Cover

I got a cover from https://www.classicadditions.com.

It is a perfect fit, has mirror pockets and fits like a glove. It is slightly elasticated and very high quality soft cloth. Phil King recommended them to me and I'm delighted with it.

There are a few creases on my photo, but that's because a) my cover isn't on straight (!) and b) my aerial doesn't go down.

Even better, you can send them any .jpg and they can scan it in and put it on your cover. I made up this Jake/Corvette Racing logo for mine. Again, excellent quality.

I never really go on line to recommend stuff, but this was one of the best car covers I've seen on any car. Drop me a pm if you want to know any more. their customer service was pretty on the ball so I'm sure they would respond to any questions you had.

Good luck
