Optispark / Water Pump

Evening
My 1993 LT1 seems to be having the usual Opti-Spark issues.
Any ideas where I can get another and as the job to change is quite involved I had better change the water pump at the same time, again any ideas where to get one.
Thanks

Keith Beschi of Eurovettes is a good place to start.

You have probably done research on this, but I believe that the opti-spark from the 1995/96 model LT1 is compatible and has a modification that helps prevent the condensation problem that kills the earlier opti-sparks.

You are right about changing the water pump at the same time. This is a 'belt and braces' fix that makes a lot of sense.

Re: Optispark / Water Pump

My 94 developed intermitant & very erratic running & cutting out. So I got a recon pump from a small supplier on EBay. Sent it US mail. The opti was a repro, dorman ? I think from a parts Store on eBay who didn't ship outside US, but a friend of a friend bought it back in her suitcase!! The difference in power & running etc was very noticeable. You will need new pump gasket, don't loose the little drive shaft for the opti & you need a socket on a long bar for the belt tensioner. Apologies if you know this already! Steve

Re: Optispark / Water Pump

Ask Paul at Lincolnshire Corvette to fit an MSD vented Optispark for you.
I have had 3 Optispark's on my 94 previously and the only one that has lasted is the MSD.

If you do want to have a go your self It is a bit of a nightmare. The clearance for removing the water pump is minimal and the Optispark mounted behind it (thanks GM) is a bit of a pig to get back in.

The whole job seemed much easier when I sat there drinking Coffee watching Paul sort it Laughing

the CARDONE one is good and works and is not crazy expensive
I have them in stock - but am "stuck" in San DIego until Jan 23rd Smile - shame

If you are in the Hatfield, Herts area - its a job Colin and I can get done - but I wholly recommend Paul @ lincs for the job too
cheers

Thanks for replies. I live in Dorset, going to have to either do myself or get someone local to do. Car does still drive but only just!
