Garage services required for a C3 in the NW

Hi all

I'm looking for a garage recommendation if you can please in the NW. I'm in the St Helens / WA10 area.

My '78 C3 developed a major oil leak coming home from a show. It's basically coated the engine bay, and sprayed oil onto the exhaust which is how I knew about the problem - lots of smoke coming from the engine bay as the oil burned on the exhaust. The engine is caked in it so it'll need a place that can do a proper good steam clean all over/under and then diagnose where the issue lies. Possibly then fix it for me as I no longer have the inclination to do this kind of work. Whatever went it was a sudden failure rather than something which has gradually got worse.

Lincolnshire Corvettes have already been recommended from a trusted source but that's still a 5 hour round trip in a car that spewed a litre of engine oil to do 40-odd miles.

There is a thread on here asking about NW servicing but it's from a few years back so I'm hoping there's newer input.

Thanks in advance.

It could be something really simple you could do yourself - like a rocker cover gasket? - no clues as to where the leak originated? perhaps the leak was exacerbated by a failed PCV valve and/or some crankcase pressure?

Thanks for the reply.

The engine bay is literally covered in oil, but it appears most heavily concentrated at the front and down the passenger side. It's been hitting the pulleys and spraying all the inside. No matter what caused it there's no chance to find it until it's had a full whack steam clean. The way I figure it if I get a garage that knows C3's they can do it much quicker than I can.

Cheers.

Hoping there's experienced recommendations though.

I would try a jetwash and have a look. I had a blocked pcv recently, and it caused a small leak from the rockers. Quick 7 fix. A small amount of oil seems to go a long way!!

Blocked PCV, failed Inlet Manifold Gasket, Rocker Cover Gasket?
