Head Unit Replacement

Hi

Appreciate this topic gets covered on an annual basis, but are there any latest recommendations on a replacement DD Head unit for a Euro C6 (2007). Pioneer and Kenwood seem to come out the preferred units. I'm wedded to Apple, but would imagine most decent units are compatible with both Apple & Android. I'm going to get the unit installed, rather than try DIY, and understand that you need a new surround and adaptor to make it all work in the car (e.g. steering wheel controls etc.). Reversing camera might be nice, but don't know how that would look on the car....

Any recommendations of specific units, or of people to talk to, would be greatly appreciated! I'm likely to get the guys at Custom Exotics to do the install.

Thanks

Pete

Thanks Alan. I don't know if I would need the same setup as yourself, as mine is a '07 Euro car, Bose unit with steering wheel controls? Regardless - would you recommend the Pioneer?

Cheers

Re: Head Unit Replacement

Thanks Alan.

Some further advice if I may......I'm having trouble getting confirmation as to the exact interface component I need (i.e. the PAC RP3-GM11 you used). I've been told the PAC OS-2X works, but there are multiple options....! I've sent a query to 'PAC', but not anticipating a quick response.

Cheers

I thought WildOliver would need the RP5-GM11 but it looks like he used the same as me.

Denis at Double D on the USA forum may also be able to help.

Re: Head Unit Replacement

Thanks everyone.

I've had this back from PAC:

If you do have ONstar, and you have Steering wheel controls, the part you need is the RP5-GM11
If you do NOT have Onstar, but you DO have steering wheel controls, the part you need is the RP4-GM11

If you do have ONstar, but you do NOT have steering wheel controls, the part you need is the OS-2X
If you do NOT have ONstar, and you do NOT have steering wheel controls, the part number you need is the RP3-GM11

As I understand it, no Euro Corvettes in 2005-2007 had OnStar. So, I'd need the RP4-GM11 for my Corvette (as I have steering wheel controls).

I believe Double D have folded, or at least no longer supporting Corvettes (according to corvetteforum threads)

Pity Dennis is no longer available, he was very helpful and appeared to have a good reputation.

The installation was fairly easy, most of my time went on cleaning up a previous owners Parrot bluetooth installation.
