This problem has continued, with more people emailing me complaining that their account is being hacked.

To combat this, I've added a simple mechanism to the login form that will hopefully slow the hackers down. When logging in, you'll be forced to answer a question. For humans it's easy but for machines it'll be much more difficult.

If anybody has any problems getting past this, please email me: web @ corvetteclub.org.uk

I've been monitoring the failures for the last week or so to watch what these hackers are doing. It seems that if your password is either the same as your username or just the word 'password' then your account will be hacked soon! You've been warned! No No No

I suspect that all an attacker would be able to do if he cracked your password is post random weird stuff in the forums using your name. If it happens to Genghis we might not even realise. But if you use the same password on other websites then it might not just be this one you have to worry about...

No sorry Ben, but it's one of 4 users, if he comes on here again I'll get it.

Simon (vetteweekend) has had a couple of reports about this happening again, with users getting notification that someone has tried to access their account. I still don't know why hackers would try and do this, but I'm posting this to remind everybody to choose a secure password. Dancing

Re: Site hacking attempts and passwords

Here is a test to show you how secure your password is Thumbs up
https://howsecureismypassword.net/
For instance:

chairman = 52 seconds
chairperson = 10 days

Fred

--------------------
Callaway Honker
Ported throttle body
Ported intake
Crane Cams 1.8 ratio rockers
Kooks Jet Hot coated headers
Pfadt Johnny O'Connel shocks
Hotchkis sway bars
Diablosport Trinity with custom tune
Brian Tooley Racing valve spring kit

When launching and stopping this beast, passengers may experience temporary black-out due to "G" forces
caused by acceleration and deceleration speeds faster than what they are normally accustomed to.
