Hi everybody,
Hoping that somebody can help me out with this. Since owning my 1981 Corvette it has a bit of an annoying flaw. If the car is started from cold and you release the ignition a bit too soon, the car will seem to start but quickly cut out. The car then cannot be started for about an hour. No combination or pushing the throttle etc will make it start. I have even read the original owners manually for the starting procedure under different circumstances.
What I have noticed is that when removing the air cleaner, the choke plates on the carburettor are fully closed. If I push them open a bit, then it will start ok.
The car is a bit unusual as it is a computer controlled carburettor, hence reading the owners manually. For example the owners manual says to never touch the throttle whilst cranking, presumably because it upsets the computer.
