1981 Corvette - Starting issue

Hi everybody,
Hoping that somebody can help me out with this. Since owning my 1981 Corvette it has a bit of an annoying flaw. If the car is started from cold and you release the ignition a bit too soon, the car will seem to start but quickly cut out. The car then cannot be started for about an hour. No combination or pushing the throttle etc will make it start. I have even read the original owners manually for the starting procedure under different circumstances.

What I have noticed is that when removing the air cleaner, the choke plates on the carburettor are fully closed. If I push them open a bit, then it will start ok.

The car is a bit unusual as it is a computer controlled carburettor, hence reading the owners manually. For example the owners manual says to never touch the throttle whilst cranking, presumably because it upsets the computer.

Can only make some guesses, and you would have to debug these to see what helps

1. TPS sensor is out of alignment, may not to adjust, so the engine controller can properly open butterfly for needed airflow
2. IAC, might need adjustment or cleaning
3. Air adjustment screw needs to be adjusted or carb needs good cleaning for correct airflow
4. Timing needs adjustment for cold startup
5. Is choke manual or electric, if manual maybe vacuum hose bad or leaking, if electric check the wiring for it and its connector
6, dirty airfilter, not enough air causing rich cold start, also causes fuel flooding and why have to wait before trying to start again
7. wireloom going to the engine controller, pins dirty or loose

Thanks so much for the suggestions and information. I will hopefully be speaking to my workshop tomorrow to get it booked in for some diagnostics. This is good to know.
