This whole thing about TPMS is a screwed up mess and more misinformation than facts, so hard to know
Some claim that the non-American C5 FOBs never supported the passive function and all C5s used the 40 model
But no fact, if that is true
Maybe if you contact that seller in Germany, they would be able to answer your question
I like the passive function so if setting so that car will auto lock and unlock, but you're working around the car with the FOB
with you then it would be cycling lock unlock and the alarm system
But if sliding the passive switch on FOB that tells the remote controller not to use auto mode
Also on another note :
C5 came with 2 FOBs, this was so if there were 2 drivers and each made settings for seat, steering wheel, outside mirrors, HVAC etc
On the drivers' door control panel, see if the top of it says memory 1 and memory 2 buttons
Each of the 2 drivers could make their setting and save that and then like driver one with their fob does the save process for memory 1 button
and second driver does theirs for memory 2 using their FOB
Now if car has been set for driver 1 FOB used and driver 2 gets in with his FOB than their setting would be auto made
and then driver 1 uses the car, their settings auto set
Look in owner's manual for setting up memory setting if 1998 supported this as my 1999 Cd5 does
