Always reverse your car into a Car Park parking space

Being a gentleman I am,
simply, this is Horse S@hit :)
Imagine some drivers who cannot judge the front of their vehicles smacking into the assend of your Corvette
and now backing into your Corvette and crawling up the hood :-(

And they'll be telling drivers of electric cars to turn-off heating, a/c, music to save battery power during winter months! - "whats that I hear you saying"? - "oh, they are already"!

That article is lifted from the Express which in itself is a very poorly written chip wrapper of a paper. Click bait rubbish.

That said, it’s significantly easier to park a vehicle of any sort of reasonable size by reversing in. You constantly see people in their “SUV”s trying to get the car in forwards and struggling. The Highway Code already states you should not reverse into a main road and it’s advisable not to reverse off your driveway into the road but people do it constantly and suffer. I guess a large portion of the population just don’t like going backwards…

Somebody told me that yesterday, I always drive in to park as I’m usually going to open my tailgate to load stuff in.
In Florida you HAVE to drive in to park. No reversing into park signs are in place in many premises car parks.
This is so the police car see your “tag” ( licence plate) as FL is a rear tag only state. You can/will get towed if you reverse park.

I always "drive in". Surely the easiest/less chance of scrapeing cars, specially if you are trying to reverse something "big"/with limited rearward visibility?

Completely agree, it's much easier to reverse into a tight space than drive forwards. I worked at a new vehicle storage compound with up to 8000 units on site. Every vehicle was reversed parked, wheels straight, reversed right up to the one behind. The drive through lanes were so narrow that anything else was impossible.

As someone who drives a van everyday with no rear visibility I personally find the absolute opposite. I also find it easier in cars that need to be cautious of the wheels etc, just drop the mirror angle and I can see if I’m about to curb it.

I guess because they don’t display the plate at the front?

You'll sometimes see signs in pubs, perhaps restaurants and other places with doors and opening windows next to the parking area "please do not reverse park here"........to reduce exhaust fumes entering building.

I passed my driving test 55 years ago. In those days it was so easy to steal a car therefore I always parked nose in, my theory being that it'd be much easier to steal a car facing outwards so thieves could drive off in a hurry, rather than reversing out then nipping off. I still almost always park nose in to this day, much to the amusement of my fellow North East Region members when I'm forced to reverse the Vette into a space at shows etc.

And as if by divine intervention I’ve just been reminded of another why in the Lidl car park. A lady in a Kia Sportage reversing out the space, completely unaware of me coming down the lane until 50% of her car is in the lane. I then had to sit there while she performed a multi point turn to get out the space…

And of course parking 'nose-in' with a Corvette brings it own marque challenges. New C3 owners will always hit a fence or similar with the pointed nose. GM interestingly installed a front facing camera (in addition to rear view camera) to the C7 as it was so easy to wallop and damage the low front of the car even with seemingly low kerbs.....

So true. Many a C3 had the nose point damaged. Those little bumperettes added in 1975 helped a little bit.
Some thought the spoiled the clean lines of the “new “ plastic front and rear bumper covers, I personally liked them.

Not really about which is better, to pull in or back into a tight parking spot
How about in the dark or bad weather ?

It is about government dictating to the taxpayers to do what they say, or else they suck money out of you
so they can blow that money out their asses

See news reports all the time when people are backing into parking spot and run over their own kids, they could not see
Backing in is such a issue is GM now sells vehicles with backup systems and even parking assist electronics

We now have somewhere near 21 million illegal aliens in the USA, no drivers licenses or insurance that are high speed driving, hit and runs and
countless crashes leaving the owners of those vehicles now stuck paying the damages, and you can bet they would not back into a parking spot, laws or not
When I was in high school, just to get a drivers permit you had to take a driver ed course at school and pass that course
Today no training at all
  1. Look at the 2024 C8 as required and is standard, imagine the auto braking system coming on or off on it own
  2. HD Front and Rear Vision Cameras Standard
  3. Side Blind Zone Alert Standard
  4. Forward Collision Alert Standard
  5. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning Standard
  6. Following Distance Indicator Standard
  7. Automatic Emergency Braking Standard
  8. Rear Cross Traffic Alert Standard
  9. Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking Standard
  10. Forced to pay when buying the C8, 3 years of OnStar and cannot opt out of it

Wonder if some of those 21 million 'aliens' now in the 'States are one and the same as the people (according to Trump) eating all the USA's domestic pets?
