C2 Birdcage Inspection

Hey folks,

As some of you know - I've just picked up a '65 C2.
I did my best as a total amateur to 'inspect' the birdcage - I got the rear access panels off, had a good look at those mounts - and watched a bunch of Mid-year Mitch videos, you get the picture.

I'm having trouble locating and inspecting the 'front' birdcage mounts.

Here's a video of me scrabbling around in the footwell, to show you what I'm seeing: Dropbox

On C3s, you pull the kickpanel off, and 'Hey Presto!' - a big space with easy access to the bolts:

In my C2? As you saw in my video - there's just more steel plating.

What am I doing wrong?

C2 front birdcages are generally pretty robust unlike the later C3’s removing the glove box assembly will be helpful .
Here it is in all its glory

Grand - I think for now, I'll have to assume the front ones are in good order if the back ones look okay. Thank you.

Without pulling the car apart, I don't think I can get a better look - as you say.

Now I need to find the source of several fluid leaks 😂

Perhaps use one of those borescopes?
