C3 wont start!!

With my 81 C3 in PARK turn the key nothing happens. Have to push the auto stick about half an inch forward with my right hand and turn key with my left hand. Car starts every time. Help!!!!!

Sounds like the safety switch on the gear linkage is out of alignment. Never done it on a Vette but I’d imagine it’s under the centre console and should be set so the car won’t start in reverse or drive.

Sometimes it a cable system look in engine bay just under steering column see if there is a cable see if the circlip has broken allowing play if not check same cable gearbox end

As stated above, sounds like the neutral safety switch.
