Saw a C8 today out in the rain on the A13. It was on Texas plates and was very dirty. Looked nice going along.
being Texas, it had a front plate on which spoiled the look a little.

Welcome to the UK. Apart from a few muppets who take their 250 miles a year Lambo (with rorty-zorst) to the pub on a sunny Sunday most of of us need a number plate on both ends of the car if we want to avoid the wandering gaze of the boys in blue.

And there are some awkward MOT rules about British Standard number plate materials, postcode of maker etc. But hey, who needs an MOT? Just buy a new car!

I got pulled up once in a C4 ( in 1991) on the A10 near Royston for not having a front plate on. No ticket, just a telling off.

No problem on mounting a front plate on a 57 Chevrolet or any 50’s to possibly late 80’s American cars. The fronts were designed for a plate holder and to me it looks fine. It was only on the sportier models that it sometimes looked out of place. Gen 4 GM F bodies for one. C4 /C5 Corvettes had the cut out for a plate for those states that required one, and a cover for those that didn’t.
front plates also never looked right on E-Types, hence the stick on lettering type of plate on the bonnet.
