I suppose that compares with Ian Allan’s when you add the options on, especially if the road tax has to be added to the above prices.

Those prices include the 1st year VED/road tax, which as we know is going up 100% in April from £2.,745 to £5,490. I have a April 2024 price list (2LT Coupe £92,429/3LT HTC £101.669). So haven't gone up too much?

I wonder what options the 3LT HTC would have on it. It would be interesting to know so we could see if Ian Allan was loading the prices for his own benefit when selling, we could not compare before seeing as he was the only one selling them.

You could go to the GM Corvette website and build as you like it and then convert to UK money

Build Your Corvette

As example here is a 2025 HTC with 3LT is $89K US = 71.4K UK

Just did a calculation on the spec mine was when I purchased it from Ian Allan’s, it comes out about the same as what I paid for it, ,with the VED added on its comes to a little bit over than what I paid for it, so it seems mine at least was not an over inflated price.

Why is it that no one so far seems too bothered about the doubling-up of road tax (from £2,745 to £5,490) - not that £2745 was a reasonable figure to start with!

I wouldn’t say that no one is bothered about it, it’s a p—s take from the government but whatever we say or do won’t have any impact on it, a bit like all the other cock ups this government has made. It’s a case of its not on my doorstep so why should I worry, with this government.

Don’t forget it’s not a straight conversion from US dollars into UK pounds. We have 10% import duty and a further 20% VAT ( value added tax) to add on.
That’s one of Trumps grievances about cars from Europe into the US. You guys only charge 5% import tax on entry to the US.

I'm bothered about it. I have two cars that are in the high tax band. It would encourage me to find a lightly used example where the first owner took the £5K hit.

As someone who has bought 3 brand new cars in the last 3 years, it just feels like taxation is going to kill new car sales for some car models. It has always been pay to play, but this is now becoming too much to ignore (at least for me). If you buy a nice ICE sports car, you're now £5K on tax + (optional) £3K+ on detailing and PPF before you drive the thing. And add in the uncertainty of constantly changing car legislation making residuals uncertain, I'm definitely going to think carefully about any future purchases.

If and when they bring out a significant Stingray update that tempts me, I'll have to get the man maths calculator out 😀

Damn, no words for you guys :(
Add for this year new vehicles have auto brakes functions where on-board controller commands on the brakes
when it thinks you might be going to crash :-(

Yep, 2025 C8 this :

Presumably you can turn that off when you start the car, like the speed limiter above? Then again, if you do and go into the back of someone, your insurance company ain't gonna be too happy? Will be recorded on the car that it was switched off?

Researching this and what I found
I attached below a federal PDF which is the required law mandate that all vehicles under 10,000 pounds must have by 2029
GM has added this now but for now it can be turned off on the C8 that I found in getting and reading the 2025 C8 owners manual

Assume in 2029 being than law that function then could not be turned off ?

While I find lane assist annoying unless cruising on motorways, and speed limit warnings can also be tedious, I've had emergency braking on two cars and think it is a good thing. Apart from the very occasional glitch in a city, it is unobtrusive when implemented well, and I certainly never saw it triggered when making good progress on a nice A or B road. On the other hand, I did mildly rear-end a learner driver when they stopped suddenly at a roundabout give way about 15 years ago, so I wish the technology had been in my car then! I've also been hit from behind at junctions twice, once writing off my car.

I turn off various aides at times (and some cars make this very easy, like my old GR Yaris), but I've never once felt inclined to turn off emergency braking. Similar to car airbags, I hope to never need it, but quite happy to have it in a car just in case.

I find lane assist annoying full stop and turn it off as soon as I start the car. The blind stop warning in the mirrors and the heads up are enough. Three speed limit warning icons on the dic, heads up and dashboard and an audible sound if going over the limit when approaching a camera, will help my licence.

Gadgets are nice to have but make driving boring, well to me it does.
Give me lots of HP and TQ and that’s me happy.
With bundles of HP and TQ available under your right foot you are certainly going to be more alert perhaps much more than otherwise. It's then that the odd involuntary head, body or leg movement from a cough, sneeze, fart or even shifting position in your seat can almost instantly raise your speed by 20 mph or so and/or (perhaps both) send you in an uncharted direction.......

Jeez Ross, I’m gonna make sure I‘m not in front of you when we next go to a show together. Mind you, following you might be unpleasant too🤣🤣
