Any one got an idea as to why
dash lights are very dim. It’s a1977 c3

Have you turned the headlight switch it has an inbuilt dimmer?

If you have them maybe the switch is faulty.

As OneBall says, the light switch should turn. They are a bit "rickety" so sometimes the panel lights fluctuate until they settle! But, it's also worth remembering that the panel lights are not as bright as modern cars, even when on full.
