I suggest whoever manages the forum is to add an E-Ray and Z06 sections
Assembly Plant Director Kai Spande said the 2024 Corvette E-Rays were starting to be built with Saleable VINs.
No longer is the plant building E-Rays with experimental “EX” VINs, these are cars that will be used by engineers and others to evaluate and test, and then they will be offered back to Chevy dealers as a pre-owned vehicle.
These are not customer vehicles being built, and they will have a slightly different VIN structure that alludes to the pre-production status of these cars.
Another confirmation that the next model offered for sale will be coming without any delays as the Corvette Assembly Plant just ran a large batch of E-Rays down the line, according to Roger Kiel who charts the production of the Stingray and Z06.
Roger said about 50 E-Rays per day were built on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday last week.
He posted the following update on the C8 Owners and Friends group on Sunday, the following:
I have confirmed that the first sellable E-rays started coming off the line on Wednesday, May 24. About 50 were produced each day on Wed, Thur and Friday.
I have the vin numbers a for all that were built.
Stingray production was significantly reduced as of Wednesday because of the E-ray production. ZO6 remains unaffected.
According to the chart that Roger posted, regular Stingray production for the first shift/second shift on Monday was 79/79 and 78/78 on Tuesday before dipping into the 50s per shift for Wednesday-Friday when the E-Rays were being made.
When asked if these numbers would be indicative of future production totals accounting for the Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray, Roger said “No, Stingray is expected to return to 140/day. The room for E-ray will come in large part from the cessation of Anniversary models. That’s not far away.”
The assembly plant can produce nearly 200 Corvettes per day at max capacity, and if Stingrays account for 140 of those produced, that leaves another 60 or so to be divided between the E-Ray and Z06. To us, this seems low considering we were getting some decent production numbering in the 40s and 50s per day on the Z06 by itself.
We think that those Stingray numbers will have to be further reduced to account for higher E-Ray production, but time will tell.
