As with all things to do with my ‘70, I am not assuming anything is correct. And that includes the fuel tank.
all the images of replacement tanks have the filler cap located near the top edge of the tank. This ties up with what I have on mine. Looking Good so far right? Well, how come the cap is not located centrally to the flap? This came about when I purchased a replacement rubber ’skirt’ that sits around the filler neck and I couldn’t get it to sit right.
Question is then, how easy would it have been to fit the fuel tank in the wrong position (assuming one of the previous owners replaced it at some point)? Or have they fitted the wrong tank somehow?
