Manufacturers 'marketing' techniques eh!. Put a totally unconnected and perhaps inappropriate name to something and the gullible buying public give full lip service to the manufacturer. (Very clever really). I mean, for example what 'real' connection in any way does a current model Mustang have with an early Mustang? - (other than a coupe body and V8 engine?) a few badges? rear lights perhaps vaguely similar ? - the current model Mustang tries very hard with the Bullit version. Does it look like a '67 or '68 fastback?......other than the colour is similar and it has an 'open' grille.........no, IMHO nothing like McQueen's 'ride'.
I'm dreading the supposed GM Corvette branded SUV vehicle and the potential 'dilution' of the Corvette brand and image this will surely bring. You can just hear the pub chat can't you - "what car have you got mate"? - "Me?, I've got a Corvette".........only to drive off later in some amorpheous, bloated, mid sized SUV 'clone' bedecked with Corvette and Stingray badges and references, quietly humming up the road..........
