Hi all -
Bit of engine update work going on over Christmas. I bought this stuff for my original '76 L48 but ended up running it in my new 383 block temporarily, so I'm now swapping it out for a different bunch of bits, to finish the 383 off.
- Comp Cams 268H Flat Tappet Cam (their part number 12-210-2) Currently £250 from Real Steel ***
- Comp Cams HFT Springs (their part number 981-16) Can't find the Real Steel price, but showing as $80 on Comp's website (before tax and shipping), so assume it'd be about £80 delivered from Comp. (Note: no caps or collets)
- 5/16 hardened pushrods (7.8"). I think I got these from Real Steel (their part number 7972-16), but I'll confirm if anyone is interested. Currently showing as £165 from Real Steel ***
- HFT Lifters/Tappets. I think I got these from Real Steel (their part number BYA0817), but I'll confirm if anyone is interested. Currently showing as £145 from Real Steel ***
This cam shaft seems to be a fairly standard 'gentle' upgrade for low performance SBCs such as a mid 70's L48, and is reported to be "compatible with stand auto/torque converter/stall" gearboxes. I never ran it in my L48, ended up using it as a stop-gap in my 383.
*** IMPORTANT *** these three items have all been used - but less than 1000 miles since new; everything is referenced with what came from where so matching up the lifters/tappets and cam to where they were working together before they were taken out is easy.
"As new" price is over £600. Will entertain an offer over £400... Would prefer to shift them all in one, but happy to discuss... by DM and not public debate, please! ;-)
------
Also, I have a set of HFT springs, collets, caps for AFR heads. Also used (less than 1000 miles). Offers over £150. These have been used with the camshaft above.
(Part nos: AFR 8020, AFR 8510, AFR 9009)
Cheers everyone, and best wishes for the Xmas Season!!!
Regards,
FJ
