Fuel filter query

Hi all, my 72 has a metal in line fuel filter before the carb. I am presuming it is non GM and not serviceable. Can anyone recommend a particular brand they use. I dont want to use the £1.50 plastic ones, I would like as close to what is there now. TiA 👍IMG_9064.jpeg

There are several suppliers of practically identical metal can filters. I have one on my car.....

Some are chrome finish, the cheaper ones usually aren't. I can't remember where I bought my replacement but here's one that might suit. Check that you buy the right fitting diameter. From memory it should be 3/8" dia. but some filters are 5/16" or 1/4" dia. Check when you fit it that it's the right way round; this is usually indicated by a small arrow somewhere on the filter - it's not always very obvious. Arrow should point towards the carb.

My '68 had a metal filter can just like this........but with an third smaller tube on the top for fuel return to tank. Used in '68 only it had been long since discontinued. I had the choice of buying a NOS unit at close to £100 or more from the 'States. I chose a more or less identical filter for a late model Jeep from my local American spares shop (Customville) costing £5 or £6.
