"I'd rather listen to the engine"

This car came from the factory without a radio. Often, you will see these described as a DELETE option, when in fact they were not. The only way to "delete" something, when ordering a new Corvette, is if the item was included in the first place. Radios were an extra cost, optional item on Corvettes until 1979 when an AM/FM radio became standard equipment.

An example of a true DELETE option was the 1967 RPO C48, which automatically deleted the standard heater/defroster. All 20 1967 L88 cars, plus 15 other non-L88 cars that year were ordered with C48.

I'd like to know how an am/fm oem radio could even hope to compete in decibel terms with a healthy exhaust system and big horse power?

I have a radio and an electric retractable aerial on my 68. However, I have never used the radio so I don't know if it works or not. I mean why would you want radio when you have a V8 to listen to?

I also have side pipes and so forth - so wouldn't be able to hear radio anyways. I've also put in a switch to disable the automatic extending of the radio aerial when I turn the ignition on. No point it going up and down as I never use it.
