I would like to take a minute to welcome back to the club John Mayes. For those of you who don't know John he is one of the most knowledgeable C2 and C3 enthusiasts in the country. Years of hands on restoration projects have left him with an unrivalled collection of show winning cars. It is John who is my mentor with regard to Mid years and is the man often referred to as The Don. He answers from his years of experience and doesn't care for google.

Glad to see you back John, any of the other senior past CCCUK members most welcome.

Welcome back John - for those of you who are unaware of John Mayes.......as Frank says John has the most exquisite and possibly under appreciated collection of early Vettes, specifically C2's and C3's - although he may have added additional marques more recently?

Bit of a late one, but thank you for all the kind words, both from old friends and some people I don't know yet.

John - is that the one you had the fuel injection totally re-built and decided run it on 100 octane Avgas (to avoid the risk of Ethanol contaminating the F I seals and rubber components) - just remember (if it is the same car) how 'sharp' it sounded on that high octane fuel!

Ross, 105 Octane . Yes,when you put your hand down by the rear exhausts the pressure really hits your hand hard compared to normal.

Esso Synergy Supreme is 99 octane and supposedly Ethanol free in most of the UK. Have you tried it in the '65 fluelie?

Could never understand why a convertible would be ordered without a soft top. To order the car with a hard top and delete the soft top is madness IMO.
It makes the car unusable as a convertible in most cases. The chances of getting caught in a downpour ruining the interior outweighs the saving in deleting the soft top.
And the car can be used for what it was made for, top down wind in the hair motoring.

I speak from experience.
