Have a 2008 C6 6.2lt American import which has had beneficial tax rate over recent years, last year was £345 .Will the new rates still reflect this or are imports going to have to pay the full rate currently now showing at £725 according to government website.?
If there is a different new higher rate for imports in 2025 does anyone know what it is please?
Fortunately I have renewed a month earlier than due to ensure a lower rate..
Thanks
Mike

They may well do, but might have been out / busy last night and haven't since this post yet.

Sadly I don't know - anything post year 2000 ish with any power (new emissions tax era) just scares me looking at the tax amounts. As such, I don't have anything in that era, except my daily drive kid wagon.

My daily is £20 per annum. When you consider moving over to an alternative, perhaps larger daily driver it's very easy to find £600+ p.a vehicles that only a year or two ago were considered as 'green' vehicles

I phoned the DVLA and asked what the VED on my 2008 US import was going up to in April. It's going up from £345 to £360 ish. I can't remember exactly what the figure was, but it's not a huge increase.

What's the daily at £20? My missus used to have a Citroen C1 that was £20.... fun to drive around country roads, but definitely didn't fit into the "with any power" category. I think a mate's Octavia VRS diesel was also £20/30 as well when he got it (yeah, my mate who brought it along to the Drive Limits track session last year).

Yeah, I probably should have said "anything PETROL post year 2000 ish with any power (new emissions tax era) just scares me looking at the tax amounts.", as some of the diesels fit the cheap tax AND are quick.

VW Up! - 990 cc's, petrol, 3 cylinders and all of 60 odd HP. Being in an outer London suburb (for us) it's the ideal small city car with its 40+ mpg town use and not enough power to get in trouble.......

Hey Mike, good call renewing early! From what I’ve seen, tax rates for imports can change, but it’s best to check directly with the DVLA or gov website for 2025 updates. Maybe someone here has firsthand experience?
